Mark Sutton is a Staffordshire County Councillor and represents the Brewood Division in South Staffordshire. The Division covers Bickford, Bishops Wood, Blymhill, Brewood, Calf Heath, Congreve, Coppenhall, Coven, Coven Heath, Dunston, Dunston Heath, Four Ashes, Gailey, Gunstone, Hatherton, Ivetsey Bank, Lapley, Levedale, Longnor, Longridge, Mitton, Stretton, Weston Under Lizard, Wheaton Aston and Whiston.
He has previously been an association Chairman and Deputy Chairman Political and is currently the Central Staffordshire Association Constituency Officer for the Stone, Great Wyrley and Penkridge constituency.
Mark prides himself on being approachable and always willing to try and assist constituents with issues and replying to concerns in a timely manner. He is a former Police Inspector and has considerable experience of dealing with complex issues and problem solving.
He is Staffordshire’s lead member for Children and Young People a position he has held for seven years. Within his portfolio is Children’s services, including Safeguarding, Early Years provision, Early Help, Family Hubs, Children with disabilities, Health Visitor and School Nurses. He also chairs the Corporate Parenting Panel their remit is to ensure that children in the care of the local authority have opportunity equal to all children.
He is passionate about ensuring that Children in Staffordshire have the best start in life.
He is the Chair of the Staffordshire Health and Wellbeing Board, which is made up of key partners from across Staffordshire.
He sits on both the Local Government Association (LGA) Children’s Board (substitute) and the Councillor’s Forum.
Mark was one of the original volunteers when the Library in Brewood became voluntary managed, he continues to volunteer there.
He enjoys walking, travelling, music events, and DIY.
