Ian Parry has been the County Council for Stone Rural since 1997 and in total has over 30years experience in local government.
During his time as a county councillor, he has held several senior posts including Deputy Leader of the Council and held two cabinet roles. He is currently cabinet member for finance. He has led a number of transformation and cost reduction strategies for the council, helping to save many £millions from council spending.
Looking after residents is Ian’s number one priority and has led many community campaigns and worked with residents to address problems and concerns or to improve community services.
Outside of his council role Ian works for a national social purpose charity as its head of consultancy, supporting and advising councils and public bodies on improving governance and scrutiny.
He has a keen interest in arts and sport and is a trustee board member of the New Vic theatre.
His previous business background was in marketing communications and business development working with several global businesses across oil, energy, steel and industrial manufacturing sectors.
He has a degree in business and marketing and an MBA from OUBS.
