My name is Helen Adams
I was elected as a South Staffordshire District Councillor for Penkridge South and Gailey in May 2023. I am currently Chair of Penkridge Parish Council for 2023/24.
It is my intention, as a District Councillor, to serve the residents of Penkridge to the best of my ability.
I am passionate about helping in the Community and one of my initiatives since May has been the setting up of a Community Café in the Haling Dene Centre with 40-50 people regularly attending during the course of the day. I have also arranged for various agencies to attend the café in order to provide our residents with help and advice locally.
It is still in the initial stages but I have also been asked if I can help set up a support group for new mums and we are hoping to tie this in with a new Mothers and Toddler group which will commence in early 2024 in the Haling Dene Centre.
In the last few months, I have helped residents obtain advice re. housing and welfare issues, planning queries, arranged for pathways to be cleared and hedges trimmed back.
I am also working with Penkridge Parish Council to ensure that the Heron Park Play area in Penkridge is upgraded by Spring 2024. I am also involved in a grant application to purchase additional children’s/adult exercise equipment on another play area in Penkridge.
As long as I am a District Councillor the people of Penkridge will have a voice that will be heard and acknowledged at District Council level.
