Ann started her career in politics in 1995. She was elected as a borough ward councillor for Baswich in 1999, a seat she still holds today. Ann was Mayor of Stafford Borough in 2008-2009 during which she carried out a whole host of official duties, including representing the borough in Taragona, Spain, which is twinned with Stafford and Stafford, Virginia, USA.
As a borough councillor, Ann chairs the Community & Wellbeing Committee and is a member of the Shadow Cabinet.
Ann was elected as County Councillor in 2017 representing the Stafford South East division. In her role as County Councillor, Ann sits on various committees, she sits on the Health & Care committee as Scrutiny Vice-Chair, she sits on the Safeguarding committee, Corporate Parenting, Women's Health, she is Partner Governor from the County Council on Midland Partnership Foundation Trust and is also mental health champion for Staffordshire.
In her private life, Ann is married, was a former foster parent to a child with special educational needs, she is a grandmother and great-grandmother. Ann is passionate about her council work and especially helping children and vulnerable people in society.
