On Saturday 28th October, I attended the official opening of the newly refurbished Market Square, following the government awarding £14.3 million to make it happen. I was delighted to support the borough council’s bid for the money from Future High Street Fund that will transform town centre.
The redevelopment complements the newly reopened and historic Shire Hall that I raised £1.6 million to fund the refurbishment work. The new Market Square is a vote of confidence in Stafford and I am delighted the work is finished and residents can now benefit.
It is a moment of celebration and I believe it will help with a renaissance of Stafford’s town centre and High Street as businesses and visitors are attracted by these redevelopments.
But this is only the first phase and there is more to come as town centre is further improved in years to come using this Future High Street Fund.
Thanks must go to previous Conservative administration of the council for winning this government money.
