Theo Clarke MP for Stafford was delighted to take part in the ground breaking ceremony to celebrate the first official day of construction of the Skills and Innovation Centre at Stafford College. Ms Clarke welcomes that this significant Government funding has been awarded to provide more upskilling and learning opportunities for Stafford residents. Ms Clarke will continue to work with Stafford College as it prepares for its next exciting development, the construction of a Hub building for Staffordshire’s new Institute of Technology.
The Government announced that Stafford College was one of 16 colleges in England to benefit from the Government’s Further Education Capital Transformation Fund. This fund was launched by the Prime Minister to rebuild and transform college estates and create modern, fit-for-purpose spaces that meet the needs of students and the communities that they serve. The Skills and Innovation Centre site at Stafford College is a three storey, 8,000 square metre development, which will provide future learners in Staffordshire with new facilities. These facilities include leading edge construction, engineering and hybrid vehicle technology workshops, innovatively designed social spaces, a 4-court sports hall, gym and 300-seat auditorium.
